What this course gives you?

In this course you will learn how to use different paint characteristics and techniques to illustrate melting snow.

You will find out how easy it is to create special effects by using salt, sea sponge and water drops.

You will practice different types of watercolour washes that will help you to create 3D illusion in your painting.

You will study tonal and atmospheric perspective rules.

You will finish at least four large paintings that you can be proud of.

What is in the course?

This course contains four lessons. Each lessons materials provide a reference photo for your inspiration, a template and a full detailed video tutorial that you can watch over and over again. You will paint four Spring flower compositions.

Lesson 1

Snowdrops

In this lesson you will create a beautiful composition of snowdrops flowers with a very dark background.

The contrast that is created by the delicate almost transparent flowers and the dark air is very often seen in Spring gardens when the temperature is still very cold and the air is “thick” and wet.

Lesson 2

Scilla

In this lesson you will learn how to use paint with granulation effect.

You will create the grains of melting Spring snow that you can see during overcast days when the air wet and cold. The days when Winter is “fighting” with Spring, but we all know that warm days are coming soon.

Lesson 3

Crocuses

In this lesson you will create a beautiful composition of crocuses. Crocuses are well known first blooming flowers that bring colour to your gardens.

Crocuses symbolize joy, innocence and new beginning.

You will create snow patches on the frozen ground with semi visible dry grass. You will practice the tonal and atmospheric perspective rules to create the illusion of a 3D flower.

Video tutorial 3 h 3 min

Lesson 4

Tulipa

In this lesson you will learn how to use a salt and water drop effect to create the illusion of warm air in the Spring Garden.
