Spring Tulips
Let the tulips shine against Sapphire sky !

In this watercolor painting, we capture the elegance of three vibrant pink tulips against a rich, deep blue background. The contrast between the soft petals and the intense backdrop creates a striking visual effect, emphasizing light, shadow, and depth. This lesson is perfect for students looking to refine their blending techniques, explore wet-on-wet background effects, and practice delicate floral details.
The painting process will cover multi-layering and Ala Prima techniques such as, infusion washes, lifting, “wet on dry” and “dry on damp” techniques.
By the end of this lesson, students will have a beautiful tulip composition while mastering color contrast, blending, and watercolor layering techniques.
The painting process divided in five short episodes covering each part of the painting. This structure provides you a stress free and easy pattern to follow. A pencil sketch template is provided.
This tutorial suites to all ages and all skills levels. Although some previous experience in watercolour would be a benefit.
