“The Bridge of Echoes”  Symbolism & Inspiration

Once, in a quiet valley no map remembers, a bridge was built by hands long gone. It was said that every stone carried a secret — a wish, a goodbye, a silent prayer.
At night, when the stars leaned low and the river’s song grew louder, the bridge shimmered, as if remembering every soul who had ever crossed its back. They called it The Bridge of Echoes, for those who stood still upon it could hear their own hopes returned to them, softened and made tender by the journey. And sometimes, just sometimes, the bridge would answer — not with words, but with a trembling of light across the waters, a promise that no dream was truly lost.
This painting was inspired by the Five Arches stone bridge in Pakenham, arching gracefully over the Mississippi River. It is a rare and unique construction, the only one of its kind in all of North America. I cross this bridge every time I drive home. At night, the arches glow from within, casting a soft, almost mystical light across the water — a scene so dreamlike, it feels like stepping briefly into another world.
Through this artwork, I wanted to capture not only the structure itself but the memory, the magic, and the quiet promises carried in its stones.
