BLUE STARLING
The greater blue-eared starling or greater blue-eared glossy-starling is a bird that breeds from Senegal east to Ethiopia and south through eastern Africa to northeastern South Africa and Angola. It is a very common species of open woodland bird, and undertakes some seasonal migration.
In this workshop you will paint a beautiful bird. You will practising to create the amazing reflection on the bird “jacket” using the infusion wash and lifting technique.

Materials and tools, my choice is on brackets;
Watercolour paper - 1 sheet (Paul Rubens, 50% cotton)
Printer paper for a photo reference (optional);
BRUSHES:
- Soft round brushes, at least one big and one small (Paul Rubens watercolour mop brush, size 6 and calligraphy brush)
- synthetic flat brush, medium; (Escoda, flat brush 3/4)
Hair dryer;
Pencil and eraser;
Two jars of water;
A board slightly larger than your watercolour paper
White Gouache or White COPIC
Masking liquid
WATERCOLOUR PAINT (any quality, preferable in tubes)
Colours, my choice is in brackets;
any light ochre (Buff Titanium, Daniel Smith)
any yellow (Lemon yellow, Daniel Smith)
any bright green (Viridian, Winson and Newton)
any light blue (Cerulean Blue, Van Gogh)
any light turquoise (Cobalt Turquoise, Schminske)
Cobalt (Cobalt Blue, Daniel Smith)
Ultramarine (French Ultramarine, Daniel Smith)
any dark blue (Indigo, Grumbacher)
any dark grey (Paynes Grey, Van Gogh)
